Gwen Olsson

Gwen has been a Kitsap Credit Union member for more than forty years. She began her volunteer activities in 1989 as a member of the Supervisory Committee. She served on the Committee as a member and chair for several years before being elected a Director of the Credit Union Board of Directors. She has served on a variety of standing Board committees, as well as Board Advisor to the Supervisory Committee.

Gwen attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Washington State University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and is a life member of both the WSU Alumni Association and USC Triumvirate. She held managerial positions at a number of Kitsap County naval activities, retiring from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1996. Since that time, Gwen has worked part time for several private companies and is currently a Washington-licensed Real Estate Associate.

She continues to sharpen her credit union knowledge database by pursuing educational opportunities by attending local, state, and national educational conferences, as well as Credit Union strategic planning sessions. These endeavors assist her in remaining current on constantly changing regulatory and financial issues that affect credit unions.

Gwen is a strong advocate of the credit union philosophy, believing that dedicated leaders are required to assure continued growth, development, and financial responsibility of Kitsap Credit Union. One of her goals is to strengthen the Credit Union’s service-oriented presence throughout the greater Kitsap Peninsula.

Gwen, who resides in East Bremerton, participates in B.P.O.E. Lodge 1811, Bremerton National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) activities.
