Born in Davenport, Iowa, Patricia lived in many states and Europe, while her father served in the Air Force. She received a Bachelor of Arts in teaching at the University of Illinois. She taught for two years before making a move to California. In 1977, she began her credit union career at Greyhound Credit Union in San Francisco. She began as a front-line teller, advancing to loan officer by 1980. In 1990, she accepted the CEO position at Pittsburg Employees Federal Credit Union in Pittsburg, CA. While there, the Credit Union grew from 2 million to over 10 million in assets. During her tenure, as part of her continuing education, she attended CA Credit Union League conferences and seminars.
In February 2007, after retiring with 30 years of service, Patricia and her husband, Paul, moved to Kitsap County to be near children and grandchildren. Within weeks of moving to their new home in Poulsbo, they joined Kitsap Credit Union. She saw a notice in the credit union newsletter asking for those interested in a position with the Supervisory Committee and she decided to apply. Patricia stated, “Serving on the supervisory committee is a way of giving back to the Credit Union movement and to use my expertise gained in 30 years of credit union employment.”
After completing a six month training period, Patricia was officially appointed by the board in May. Terry Thomas, the Supervisory Committee Chair shared, “Ms. Dibert's experience and background will add value to the Kitsap Credit Union Supervisory Committee. We are pleased to have her representing our members in this capacity.”
In addition to her contributions to Kitsap Credit Union, Patricia is an active member of Soroptimist International of Greater North Kitsap, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.
